Whether over the phone or in person, quite often the first impression someone has of Plymouth UCC is through church secretary, Barb Hondorp. Barb has been with Plymouth nearly as long as Reverend Van Doren. In fact, it was an ad placed by him that brought her to her current position.

A graduate of Grand Rapids Community College, Barb worked in administration at Calvin College for seven years before taking time off to start a family. When her children began school, she decided to look for a part-time job.  She saw an ad in the Grand Rapids Press for a church secretary at Plymouth UCC and decided to apply.  Barb says the job, “sounded like fun.” That was over 28 years, a few typewriters, at least one duplicating machine, several copiers, too many computer crashes, and thousands of telephone calls ago! “I still get a real charge out of it,” she says.
